A proposal by Tim Ahern has recently been submitted to WG2 of FDSN to attempt to standardize the metadata needed to support an internationally coordinated collection system of digital legacy seismic data elements generated from analog recordings.
Such an initiative aims to specifically develop an FDSN standard set of metadata elements and associated documentation.
FDSN has now decided to move forward with the proposal, and the FDSN WG II has accepted to move it into the “Technical Implementation Phase”
